Job Description

Principal Duties

1. Completes data entry and maintains files for all accident and injury claims, including Safety Training records. Maintains safety database, updates records and runs reports.
2. Assists Safety in updating AHA’s, completing pre-bid job submittals and compiling site specific safety plans.
3. Assists HR by inputting employee and applicant data in a timely manner to ensure appropriate maintenance of electronic and personnel files.
4. Updates OSHA/MSHA logs and recordkeeping. Monitors lost time/restricted duty for worker’s compensation claims.
5. Prepares new hire packets and ensures adequate supply of employment and/or benefits related forms.
6. Performs general office duties, including faxing, copying, scanning, proper filing of all documents and ability to retrieve materials from files as requested.
7. Performs a variety of clerical tasks to assist the VP of HR and Safety, Safety Manager and departmental staff as needed.
8. Assists with the coordination of employee training and special projects (Aloha United Way, flu shots, community fund-raising events, job fairs, etc.).
9. Assists with maintaining 401(k) program internal updates, distribution of materials for salaried employees and coordinating educational programs with provider. Assists with processing a variety of employment and/or benefits related forms for new and existing employees.
10. Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
11. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Principal Requirements

1. Some college, with emphasis on Occupational Safety and Health and/or Human Resources knowledge preferred.
2. General office experience preferred.
3. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Email; aptitude to learn in-house systems; keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner.
4. 10 key helpful.
5. Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
6. Good reading skills.
7. Ability to produce organized, clear, grammatically correct written communications.
8. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
9. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and documentation skills.
10. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
11. Able to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner.
12. Detail oriented.
