Position Description:

COPE Health Scholars is COPE Health Solutions’ suite of health care educational programs and is closely coordinated with our firm’s comprehensive health care consulting services including, but not limited to, strategic planning around care coordination and financial modeling.

These service lines provide comprehensive and sustainable solutions to address the strategic human capital needs of our health system clients. Through continuous recruitment, screening, education, hands-on training and professional development, we cultivate a pipeline of personnel who are culturally and linguistically competent, diverse candidates for hospital and other health system positions.

In partnership with the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health the COPE Health Scholars Programs provide pre-health students and careerists looking to make a transition to health care with a unique hands-on, experiential education course. Scholars are carefully selected, well-trained and placed in health care clinical and administrative areas within hospitals, ambulatory care centers and other health care companies, where they are integrated into and assist the health care clinical or administrative team. The COPE Health Scholars Program is a unique opportunity for students and those considering a career transition to bridge the gap between academic training and real life.

For our health care company clients, COPE Health Scholars Programs help reduce new-hire and experienced staff turnover rates, improve overall staff and provider satisfaction and improve consumer satisfaction, cultivating a qualified workforce pipeline that is reflective of the communities served.

The Program Manager, COPE Health Scholars Programs is responsible for the on-site operations of large and complex career enriching programs at our health system clients. These programs require constant quality management and innovative program development to ensure high quality outcomes and safety for participants and patients. The Program Manager, COPE Health Scholars Programs serves as a vital link between program participants, COPE Health Solutions staff and the client by assisting in building and maintaining the daily operations of the COPE Health Solutions’ service lines. The Program Manager, COPE Health Scholars Programs is assisted in operational activities through development and management of large, highly talented student leadership teams, divided into various branches reflecting the nature of their duties.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to site-specific operations in executing contractual commitments and program quality standards for the COPE Health Scholars service line(s)
  • Oversee and mentor the COPE Health Scholars Leadership Team that heavily supports the operations of COPE Health Scholars Programs
  • Educate, motivate, and coach program participants
  • Maintain COPE Health Scholars Programs and client policies and procedures
  • Build and manage relationships with key client executives and staff to ensure program success and development
  • Develop a strategic plan to achieve identified contract metrics and service line growth at assigned client site
  • Conduct qualitative analyses to effectively report service line impact to client through standardized reporting
  • Support performance improvement efforts, including assessment of current program operations and data collection
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations, client site-specific policy and ethical standards through engagement with client appropriate departments
  • Develop strong relations with academic and community organizations to recruit culturally and linguistically diverse candidates for COPE Health Scholars service lines
  • Manage major projects for additional COPE Health Scholars service lines and consulting engagements, as needed, at assigned client site
  • Contribute thought leadership to engagements and organizational knowledge to continually improve work products and enhance value
  • Promote employment opportunities at the client site and with COPE Health Solutions to program participants on a quarterly basis
  • Mentor program participants to develop a pool of potential candidates for COPE Health Solutions positions
  • Represent COPE Health Solutions to the client staff, executives and the participating students
  • Represent COPE Health Solutions to academic institutions, government agencies, health care providers and others as needed
  • Report to an internal account lead and/or client executives
  • Maintain an open line of communication up and down the chain of command including bringing all questionable and at-risk matters to supervisor with an action and/or mitigation plan
  • Provide excellence in internal and external customer service
  • All other reasonably related duties as assigned

Position Expectations:

  • Develop proficiency in program operations
  • Develop proficiency in program educational content in order to teach and ensure compliance of all program participants
  • Develop and maintain high levels of client satisfaction, ensuring that the client understands and can articulate the value of our service(s)
  • Meet or exceed all contractual obligations
  • Track and report on all contractual and operational metrics
  • Meet or exceed all productivity goals and quality indicators
  • Develop a succession plan for program leadership (both at the COPE Health Scholars leadership team and program manager level) and review quarterly with supervisor
  • Attend and engage in conferences and professional networking events on industry topics
  • Develop new ideas and take a leadership role, as well as supporting other team members, on innovations that lead to new business, enhanced productivity and/or increased profit
  • Cover program emergency pager calls

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree
  • Strong customer drive and dedication to quality and success
  • Passion for student teaching, mentoring and development
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work well independently
  • Able to work collaboratively and effectively while handling multiple projects on various timelines in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Flexible with work hours, able to travel, and be able to work on evenings and 40% of weekends/quarter as need arises
  • Strong acumen for the health care industry, analytical thinking skills and a strong and dedicated work ethic are required
  • Prior experience in at least two of the following areas strongly preferred:

Service line management
Management of large-scale educational program
Workforce planning
Clinical training
Curriculum development

  • Strong public speaker

Technical Skills:

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Project Management)
