Job Description
Position: Deputy Controller
Controller Job Purpose: Responsible for the maintenance and controls of the Company’s accounting system, to include reporting, preparations, and reviews of the monthly internal financial statements.
Controller Job Duties Include:
• Design and improve business processes across a variety of functional areas.
• Assume responsibility of all general accounting functions includes Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable.
• Evaluate and identify internal control weakness, and establish and implement internal controls, policies and procedures.
• Remain compliant with external auditors for audited financial statements and income tax returns.
• Oversee maintenance of financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Maintain compliance with external parties which includes financial audits, income tax returns, general excise taxes, and payroll reports.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
• Provides recommendations to management and departments on ways to improve financial position through streamlining and improving processes to maximize efficiency and minimize cost.
Skills/Qualifications: Requirements Analysis, Strategic Planning, Self-Motivated and Self-Monitoring, Exceptional Oral and Written Communications, Technical Communication, Problem Solving, Data Modeling, Multi-tasking, and Project Management.
Education and Experience: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution as well as a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Public Accountant or possess a current Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification. Experience in or work for the U.S. military and Deltek’s CostPoint accounting software are also highly desirable.
