Job Description
Our busy Nephrology Clinic is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team!
Summary of Duties: The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the physician office running efficiently.
List of Essential Job Functions:
- Greets and rooms patients
- Works with chart prep and ensures that all pertinent patient data is available to the provider prior to patients appointment, including lab results, radiology/imaging results and any medical records
- Prepares patient for examination and records vital signs
- Assists providers during examination and as needed
- Notify providers of abnormal labs and/or vital signs
- Complete injections if needed
- Performs administrative duties such as triaging phone calls for clinic, completing FMLA and Disability forms for patients, authorize refill prescriptions per providers and other duties as assigned
- Stocks and replenishes examination rooms
- Maintains a clean examination room for each patient
- Conducts self in accordance with company policies, procedures and handbook
- Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines
- Additional duties as deemed necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of an accredited medical assisting program and active CMA or equivalent preferred
- One year of medical back office experience preferred
- Knowledge of electronic medical record preferred
- Knowledge of basic office procedures
- Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
- Ability to operate a multi-line telephone
- Knowledge and appropriate use of medical terminology
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to be compassionate and professional
- Skills in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Neat and well groomed appearance and courteous, pleasant manner
- Must be well organized and detail oriented
- Punctual and reliable
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and managers
- Must be available to work between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm as necessary
This is a Full-Time- Monday through Friday position. Benefits package available.
