Full-Time Network Installation Technician

By Light is seeking Network Installation Technicians to join our team. The technicians will provide implementation functions for DISA networking and infrastructure projects. Apply in-depth knowledge of DISA/DoD IT network infrastructure to a variety of assignments through the application of technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Familiarity with Defense Communication Operations (DCO) environment preferred. Perform equipment surveys and installations, including network infrastructure build-out, mounting telecommunication hardware, cable/fiber installation, terminations and testing. Report survey and installation status with thoroughness and accuracy in engineering implementation plans and completion reports.

• Site infrastructure installations and surveys – racks, cable racks, power, grounding, cabling, etc.
• Circuit wiring, inspection, testing, and activation.
• Network node decommissioning and de-installation.
• Develop engineering implementation plans, completion reports, and status reports providing detailed documentation of network configuration.
• Equipment surveys and installations that include network routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic material, switches, firewalls, and timing and synchronization.
• Proficiency with network test equipment.
• Perform Small to Large sized surveys and installations with no oversight.

• 4+ years of experience including network infrastructure build-out, mounting telecommunication hardware, cable/fiber installation, cable/fiber terminations and cable/fiber testing.
• 3 + years of experience surveying and installing, network routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic material, switches, firewalls, timing and synchronization and communications devices.
• Prior experience with Ciena/Sycamore/Coriant/Juniper/Cisco products.
• Must be familiar with ANSI/TIA standards.
• Preference for candidates that have worked in DOD/DISA IT network environment.
• Strong preference for candidates with background with Ciena 6500 experience.
• Must have circuit transition expertise, understanding of protocols for testing and managing circuit downtime.
• Must have the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
• Familiarity with Defense Communication Operations (DCO) environment preferred.
• Must have a minimum active Secret clearance.
• Candidates may be based anywhere in CONUS, but must be open to at least 90% travel to CONUS and OCONUS.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Education/Certifications:

• BICSI Certification
• OEM networking certifications
• High School Diploma required
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher is desired but not required

Security Clearance:

• Minimum DOD Secret clearance required

Physical Demands:

• Ability to type, communicate via telephone and sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) in excess of 100lbs.
