Job Description

Principal Duties

1. Reviews contract documents/project requirements and coordinates plant/construction activity as assigned.
2. Provides engineering backup for plant functions, including the stressing/casting process, designing and detailing general plant repairs and maintenance, bed setup, form design, lifting/handling and storage concepts.
3. Coordinates with various oversight agencies as well as contractors, suppliers, engineers and architects on technical aspects of projects.
4. Performs and coordinates miscellaneous precast/prestressed product and connection design, including remedial action as may be required for the plant and/or jobsite.
5. Participates in pre-job conferences and attends all required project meetings. Maintains a database of active projects for accessibility by designated department staff.
6. Reviews and responds in a timely fashion to correspondence from prime contractors, agencies, owners, and design team, which may include schedules, requests for information, proposals and daily reports.
7. Coordinates work with plant superintendent(s) and crews, and may be expected to operate in a hands-on manner within the production facility.
8. May be involved with multiple disciplines related to plant operations, including, but is not limited to, production planning, quality control, inventory control, safety programs, and materials/mix design and function.
9. Performs other duties assigned.
10. Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
11. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.

Principal Requirements

1. Degree in engineering, preferably in structural, mechanical or civil specialties.
2. 3 years relevant experience in the construction industry. Strong concrete related background preferred. PCI/ACI certifications and/or interest.
3. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Email, AutoCad, and aptitude to learn relevant systems.
4. Math aptitude to perform daily tasks.
5. Ability to read and comprehend contract documents, job specifications, blueprints, and other technical and/or legal information.
6. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
7. Ability to work independently and ensure completion of job in a timely manner.
8. Must be at least 21 years of age.
