Job Description
Principal Duties
1. Coordinates all construction activity in assigned area. Reviews contract documents and requirements. Prepares and updates project schedules for contracting customers and/or subcontractors. Maintains database of active project issues. Serves as the primary contact with customers. Responsible for all project correspondence including but not limited to the following: schedules, RFI’s, proposals, and daily reports. Attends all required project meetings.
2. Responsible for profitability of all assigned projects. Meets with foreman to determine manpower and equipment assignments. Coordinates all required training. Investigates and initiates new methods and cost saving procedures. Instills the highest quality standard with continuous improvements.
3. Provides all project billing information to accounting for proper accounting and follow up to assure payment. Reviews cost data and provides forecasting information to determine manpower and equipment assignments. Conducts final project audit and review of project procedures to insure continual effort in improvement.
4. Confirms material and equipment requirements. Coordinates with Island Manager & Paving Admin for submittals. Places orders for material. Schedules delivery to meet project requirements.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Principal Requirements
1. Civil Engineering Degree preferred. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate or PE preferred.
2. 5 years experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager or in the asphalt paving construction industry.
3. Strong background in computer applications. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project, AutoCad. Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner. Working proficiency with 10-key.
4. Blueprint reading required.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective internal and external communications.
6. Valid Hawaii driver’s license, favorable traffic abstract and be at least 21 years of age.
