Job Description
Position Summary
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist acts as a resource for AlohaCare’s functional areas on interpreting and applying regulations, monitoring and assisting functional areas with submission/upload of reports and documents to regulatory bodies, and manages external audits ensuring responsiveness to any corrective action requirements. This position is responsible for developing tools to track these requests and monitor timeliness of submitted documentation. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist participates in auditing and monitoring activities to ensure AlohaCare’s compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Reviews regulations, regulatory changes, notifications, and other materials provided by regulatory bodies or other resources and communicates information to appropriate functional areas for action
- Performs departmental monitoring and auditing activities. Documents and communicates potential areas or risk with appropriate parties.
- Works with managers to support their understanding of tasks to be completed in order to maintain regulatory compliance
- Identifies, monitors, and (where appropriate) responds to reporting requirements ensuring timely and accurate submission and/or uploads to regulatory bodies
- Provides project management support for regulatory audits or other compliance activities
- Develops trainings related to regulations and/or support the department in the development of such
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets/graphics, presentation, and databases
- Understanding of investigation processes and standards
- Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and relationship skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and prioritize tasks appropriately
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
- Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with government programs management/operations related to Medicaid and Medicare
