OVERVIEW:

The Construction Crewman position is primarily responsible for telecommunications site and tower construction required to upgrade wireless networks. Climb and work on communications towers to install, replace, and repair antenna systems equipment 

This position will conduct and perform construction duties to complete each project to specification. The Tower Technician will complete each project in a timely manner, with exceptional quality and within budget.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in scheduling and managing rental equipment to include calling off equipment
  • Can deal with constructive criticism and is willing to learn
  • Can deal with problems that arise with crew and project
  • Can operate sweep gear test equipment and troubleshoot, download, and label
  • Can perform all the duties of Technician 1 & 2 with ease
  • Can read and understand construction drawings to include electrical one-line
  • Can take instruction from Foreman and implement directions as needed
  • Aware of all hazards pertaining to wireless construction
  • Prepare for project installations by determining required installation methods, and assembling the proper tools and equipment in order to complete the project to specifications
  • Owns his own tools of the trade
  • Has knowledge of all tasks involved with a project
  • Reports directly to the foreman
  • Responsible for Company assets, i.e. Vehicles, tools, computers, trailers, cameras
  • Work independently as well as on small teams

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to travel out of town as needed
  • Aerial lift certification will be considered a major plus
  • Connector training
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Light and heavy machine operator knowledge a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • OSHA 10 Hour
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test
  • PIM testing
  • Sweep testing
  • Three to five years in the Wireless Construction Industry with experience in the installation of wireless antennas and line systems
  • Tower climbing and antenna installation
  • Tower rescue training/certification.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (extreme heat or cold)
  • Be continuously and clearly aware of surroundings
  • Multiple climbs per day. Push and pull objects
  • Put on and use personal protective, fall prevention, and fall arrest equipment
  • Read documents and maps. Read gauges, dials, and equipment
  • Tie and untie small and large ropes
  • Use small and large hand and power tools. Use writing implements, as well as computer keyboard and personal computer
  • Walk, stand, kneel, stoop, and bend. Work at extreme heights (towers/ladders 300 feet tall). Lift and carry gear bags and safety equipment 50 lbs. or more
  • Work may be conducted during daylight and nighttime hours

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: 40 +/-

TRAVEL: 50%-75%
