JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

This role oversees the general management of The Delivery People’s Hawaii operation with accountability for driving growth and profitability along with other performance targets. The position will operate as the group’s recognized central authority on all business and marketing matters related to The Delivery People. The General Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of company objectives related to ownership’s long- and short-term strategies necessary to achieve financial goals.

The successful candidate will be a high-energy, creative and resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and instincts. This person has excellent business acumen and is enthusiastic with a commitment to excellence. In terms of personal competencies, the successful candidate must be a hands-on person who possesses the best combination of strategic thinking and drive to achieve business results.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems, consistent with a deep understanding of the strategic direction of the business
  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills required
  • Excellent written and oral communication, analytical, influencing and leadership skills.
  • Candidates should have an advanced degree or equivalent professional experience with a minimum of 10 years of work experience in transportation management preferred. Ideal candidates will have strong commercial sales background in addition to transportation management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a transportation company with a driver workforce
  • Ability to apply regulations to daily operations (DOT and OSHA)
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, requirements and competing demands in a   deadline driven environment
  • Ability to manage a dispatching environment
  • Working knowledge of general business practices, business operations management, budgets, personnel management, customer service and vendor relations
  • Ability to generate revenue and manage sales related initiatives including sales professionals
  • Become a strategic partner with company leadership to drive and attain strategic objectives that are in alignment with established company vision, mission and values.
  • Develop and implement strategy and business plan to surpass customer expectations and provide growth
  • Manage business to meet or surpass all budgets and business plans, supporting P&L.
  • Develops operational forecasts and budgets. Appraises the results of operating performance against planned objectives; takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies and reports results
  • Manage operations to surpass industry and competitive benchmarks in safety, productivity, and operating costs.
  • Develop employees to meet competitive business requirements and support succession planning.
  • Continuous improvement of business processes
  • Develops and recommends policies and objectives to assure the most effective operation.
  • Communicate these policies and objectives to all personnel.

As part of company leadership, other duties and assignments as needed to support company.
