Position Description
This position is dedicated to achieving the goals of technical excellence and client satisfaction through being a major component of successful project teams. Applicants will establish and maintain strong working relationships by collaboratively and effectively communicating with internal staff and strategic clients. Characteristics of this position include a proven technical ability as well as being able to inspire teamwork, deliver successful projects on time and under budget, and being able to work under pressure. Other responsibilities include:
- Technical competency with the ability to make difficult design decisions.
- Serve as a technical resource expert in a civil engineering field
- Serve as a senior project engineer and perform duties associated with these roles.
- Serve as the civil engineering project manager on multi-discipline, integrated projects.
- Collaborate with a project team of employees and subconsultants to ensure our service delivery addresses client needs.
- Ability to travel abroad for projects.
- Promote Kaula AE through exposure at local conferences and committees.
Working with a team of professionals consisting of architects, engineers and scientist, you will be conducting feasibility studies, preparing preliminary engineering plans, designing civil engineering plans, cost estimating, preparing bid specifications and evaluating contractor bids, follow through during construction and operations of the design. Travel required on a limited basis to support ongoing engineering projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science or Master in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, from an accredited university and 5 – 10 years of planning/design experience in civil site work, hydraulics, stormwater, water/wastewater and/or transportation.
Professional engineering license is required, with a preference of a Hawaii civil engineering license or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity within 6 month of employment.
Applicants must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
WORK EXPEERIENCE:
Ideal candidates will have strong technical knowledge and experience in planning, design, and project management with federal and local government agencies.
Highly desirable candidates will have a variety of civil engineering experience, a desire and developing project management experience, a professional familiarity with the local and federal market, and a keen ability to develop and motivate teams and move projects forward towards completion.
Desire to be part of an emerging and successful project team and desire to travel.
