HONOLULU – Over 300 businesses and government agencies will be hiring at the WorkForce Career Fair on Wednesday, May 15th, as employers struggle to fill openings in a persistent, record-low unemployment market.

“Three percent unemployment is full employment, meaning everyone who wants a job has one. We’ve been under 3% for an unprecedented two years. Employers who might not have felt the effects immediately are certainly feeling it now,” said Beth Busch, executive director of the fair. “And that translates to opportunity for job seekers.”

Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard has extended their Direct Hiring Authority mandate from critical-to-fill to ALL positions. This shortens the hiring time to only 60-90 days. Jobseekers should bring an updated resume and proof of any certifications. Qualified candidates could receive a contingent job offer at the fair.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Neal Blaisdell Center. General admission to the event is $3; military, students and seniors with a valid ID will be admitted for $1. Attendees should dress professionally and bring multiple copies of their resume. Job seekers who want to speed the hiring process should research companies and apply online before coming to the fair.

This event is sponsored by Bank of Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific Health. Job seekers should follow us on Facebook at WorkForce Hawaii to see what companies are attending. For more information, contact Success Advertising Hawaii at 808-536-7222 or beth@successhi.com.
