DELIVERY DRIVER/ORDER PACKER POSITION

BACKGROUND
Farm Link Hawai‘i (FLH) is a farmer-owned online marketplace and delivery service connecting local growers and buyers. FLH’s mission is to create a thriving, transparent, and equitable food system across the State of Hawai‘i. To achieve this goal, FLH provides sales, aggregation, and delivery services, including an island-wide cold-storage infrastructure network. FLH currently operates primarily on O‘ahu but plans to expand its network to neighboring islands.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking to hire at least one dependable driver to transport produce from our regional farm hubs to locations across O‘ahu. A full-time employee is preferred, however we are willing to take on two PT employees. Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of local produce to predetermined customers on specific routes, reviewing orders before delivery, loading and unloading trucks, spotting any product quality issues, and providing exceptional customer service to our client base. We will provide training to the right person who can demonstrate motivation and a willingness to learn. This is a physical position that involves driving between locations, and the lifting and carrying of produce boxes that typically weigh 20 – 35 lbs. and may weigh up to 50 lbs.
SET DRIVING SCHEDULE:
Aggregation Shift
On Monday and Thursday afternoon/evenings, the driver would start on the North Shore around 3 pm and start by picking up orders at Kualoa Ranch, followed by Waimanalo and Waianae before making their way back up to our HQ on North Shore to pack orders to prepare for our deliveries. These shifts should take about 6-8 hours.
Delivery Shift
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday are our main delivery days. Hours may vary daily based upon order volumes, so a flexible schedule is critical. Generally, our delivery days begin at 6:30 am, at our Hale‘iwa Cold Storage Hub and end between 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the same location. Special orders may occasionally require work on a weekend or holiday, however, weekend work is rare.
PAY/ BENEFITS
Starting pay is $18 per hour. The compensation rate will increase w/ satisfactory performance. Further opportunities for growth and additional work will be based on exemplary performance. Medical and Dental Insurance offered to anyone working 20+ hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Inspect the vehicle for mechanical or safety issues before departing to deliver goods
– Review orders for delivery and route accordingly to meet delivery schedules
– Load products from regional hubs into truck according to the company’s specifications
– Verify that all order products are present, in clean and saleable condition
– Maintain communication with the management team, reporting any product issues
– Drive safely, stay alert, and respect the rules of the road
– Transport products from regional farm hubs to customers across O‘ahu
– Unload orders at customer locations, per their delivery specifications
– Obtain delivery confirmations from each customer, ensuring order fulfillment and ensure products fulfill their order, and meet their quality standards
– Seek customer feedback on products & services
– Collect payments from customers, when necessary
– Submit timesheet invoice on a bi-weekly basis
– Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking), following DOT regulations and safety standards
– Report any defects, accidents or violations
REQUIREMENTS
– High school degree and be at least 21 years of age
– Driver’s license, no recent moving or driving violations (clean abstract)
– A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is not required
– Ability to use a smartphone & GPS
– Must have reliable transportation to work/delivery truck baseyard
SOFT SKILLS / DEMEANOR
– Must be able to communicate effectively and have strong customer service skills
– Excellent organizational and the ability to manage time
– Able to work independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– A strong interest in building a more sustainable and transparent food system for Hawaii
– Experience as a delivery driver, with the ability to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather, etc.)
– Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations, as needed
