Job Description

POSITION
Hourly Heavy Equipment/Dozer Operator position is available with Colorado State University (CSU) and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML), and will be located at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Work efforts include:
• Training Land Repair and Trail Maintenance Repair – reconfiguration, repair and improvement of lands, roads and trails which includes; compacting, grading, hauling and spreading gravel, soil and aggregate; applying soil amendments; hydroseeding; and rip rap application
• Small tree and brush removal
• Perform routine maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in good working condition such as inspecting, greasing, cleaning equipment, maintaining fluid levels and performing related tasks

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirements include:
• Experience operating heavy equipment to maintain, repair and improve land, trails and roads
• Physically able to work outdoors and perform strenuous labor under all weather conditions
• Be able to to lift 40 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to follow directions
• Ability to work alone as well as collectively with others as a team
• Able to maintain safe working standards
• The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet CSU standards for driving throughout the course of employment.

PAY RATE and DURATION
Pay rate is $25/hour and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Work will start as soon as background check clears. Housing, per diem and moving expenses are not provided. Work is for one, possibly two months, could be extended if proficient with equipment. This position is contingent upon funding.
