Job Title: Medication Technician
Department: Resident Care ( Assisting Living/ARCH/eARCH)
FLSA Status: Full-time or Part-Time, Hourly
Reports To: Director of Nurse
Purpose: Provide professional medication and treatment to our residents in timely manner and accuracy as prescribed by the physician with PCC- Documentation completed accordingly to ensure medication care quality under the supervision of unit supervisor and RN. Consistently adheres to all medication-related policies and procedures, including those concerning appropriate documentation and medication accountability
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Graduate of a Certified Nurse Aide program. 6 months experience in long-term care preferred.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with residents, family members and staff as a team player with compassionate and positive personality
- Must be able to document CNA certification & First Aid and CPR Certificate preferred
- Must possess a working knowledge of resident care, particularly with the geriatric and adult special care needs population.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to have criminal record checked as needed.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively internally and externally
- Must meet all health-related requirements pertaining to state licensure
- Be familiarized with DOH, Hawaii Administrative Rules Title 11 Assisted Living Facility and Arch Home type II.
- Must enjoy working in the environment with seniors and care industry with positive and professional manner
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
Essential Duties
- Administration of medication and treatment to residents timely, accurately and as prescribed by the physician with professional manner and positive attitude
- Documentation of medications and treatments on MAR/TAR in PCC
- Monitoring and documenting the response (therapeutic or adverse) to any medications and treatments
- Maintaining a clean, organized and secure medication cart and medication room
- Incident Reporting
- Vitals and Blood Sugar Measuring
- Communication with pharmacies and physicians through calls or fax as needed
