Job Description

Job Purpose: Assume responsibility for the planning, staffing, and installation of outside cable facilities related to the deployment project.

Job Duties Include:  The ideal candidate will perform the below mentioned essential functions for this position.  Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

  • Perform proper installation of copper and fiber cabling and infrastructure
  • Perform in the installation of voice and data cabling including: copper & fiber optic terminations and installations, CAT.5, CAT5e & CAT.6, and EIA/TIA standards and BICSI installation guidelines
  • Possess ability to read and comprehend floor plans without assistance
  • Work with other lead technicians and project managers to ensure proper infrastructure installation techniques
  • Assist in documenting the network by labeling and routing equipment and cables.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repair equipment and OSP cabling issues.
  • Assist in gathering data for engineering and design of plans.

Skills/Qualifications: Organizational and planning skills, exceptional oral and written communication, customer service and problem analysis/solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable and customer service oriented, self-motivated and self-monitoring, and capable of multi-tasking. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc). Additionally, the candidate must possess demonstrate a good understanding of the following:

  • Multiple OSP splice enclosure manufacturers
  • Advanced cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities
  • Fiber optic and copper test and troubleshooting abilities to include us of OTDR/ TDR testers, and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities

Military Installation Access: This position resides on a military installation.  Must be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass (successful pass of background check).

Clearance Requirements: This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Education and Experience: This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with infrastructure for information technology systems, data networking, and/or telecommunication circuits. A BICSI Certification is prefered. This position prefers a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field, however with comparable experience we can accept a HS Diploma, or GED, or indication of completion of a Technical Trade School. Must have undergone additional training or immersion into one or more specific customers’ needs and demonstrate responsibility for those needs. Within 90 days of start date, you must take and pass the OSHA-10 Certification.

Travel:  Work will be performed at various military base/post/camp/stations within the State of Hawaii (outer islands included).  Occasional local travel may be required in support of this position as a result Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver’s license and pass random driver’s license screenings.
