Job Description

BIOSTATISTICS CORE FACILITATOR – ID# 17284. John A. Burns School of Medicine. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Biostatistics Core Facility at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,501- $5,115/Mon.

DUTIES: Provides a wide range of administrative and research support on matters from the initiation to the completion of projects, in compliance with established policies and procedures. Coordinates research and service information documentation, input, and organization. Tracks service deliverables to ensure day-to-day regulatory compliance and other requirements. Summarizes research and service data, and present results in report formats, including tables, charts, and graphs, to faculty and staff, and to outside agencies. Assists in the development, review, and submission of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals. Serves as liaison between the Core and research and administrative units of JABSOM departments, University of Hawai‘i (UH) programs, and community medical centers and institutes to ensure coordination and integration of activities and services. Facilitates training and mentoring activities such as courses, seminars, conferences, and workshops. Under the guidance of the Core Director, provides fiscal and administrative support related to purchase and procurement activities and the preparation of contracts and memorandums for Core projects. Assists the Core Director in providing personnel support to Core faculty and staff, e.g., processing and recording personnel, payroll, and employee benefit actions.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Research Administration, Business Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience in research project management, fiscal, personnel, grants and administrative support and management.

ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Working knowledge of biomedical research process, basic data analysis procedures, database management, procurement processing, and human resources actions. Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and techniques of modern business management. Willingness and ability to obtain new skills efficiently. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with and ability to use computerized databases, spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Word, PowerPoint), Internet searches, and electronic communications (such as Skype, Webinar).

PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Experience providing administrative support in an academic biomedical research environment. Demonstrated ability in handling multiple-deadlines.
