Job Description

Principal Duties

  1. Seeks out appropriate projects to fulfill GPRS’s market objectives and goals by reviewing various sources of information (Federal, State, City and County, etc.) for upcoming projects to bid and updates and manages the bid/estimate schedule list.
  2. Prepares bid folders by printing appropriate plans and specs for the projects.
  3. Performs quantitative takeoffs for project estimates.
  4. Receives and handles phone calls, faxes and emails in GPMS with estimates and bids.
  5. Prepares and updates project schedules for customers.
  6. Reviews and assesses value of solicitation requests in accordance with guidelines established by the Manager, arranges for pick-up of documents, or assists customers with other alternatives. Adds value to Company services by portraying a competent and professional image to customers while providing appropriate recommendations for each customer’s specific needs.
  7. Responsible for profitability of all assigned projects. Provides project billing information to accounting and follows up to assure payment.  Reviews cost data and provides forecasting information regarding projects.  Investigates and initiates new methods and cost-saving procedure.
  8. Assists with staff coverage, as needed, and during absences.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
  10. Promotes awareness of and follows Company, site, public safety and welfare, public roads and other safety policies.
  11. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the work place.

Principal Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  2. Construction experience, preferably in estimating for public works projects.
  3. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Email; aptitude to learn in-house systems; keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner.
  4. Excellent math skills to review and analyze financial data and perform calculations related to daily tasks.
  5. Able to read and understand financial forms and technical documents.
  6. Must be able to read blueprints.
  7. Valid driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective internal and external
  9. Detail oriented.
  10. Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  11. Able to work under extreme deadline pressure.
  12. Able to work independently and work flexible hours to meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
  13. Must be at least 21 years of age.
