Job Description

Principal Duties

1.     Is responsible for ensuring that field operations involving the crew, materials, security and installation activities are effectively coordinated with the general contractor and other tradespeople to meet time and budget goals for all projects.
2.     Works alongside crew members and serves as the main resource person on the job responsible for ensuring accurate alignment and installation of the Unistrut framing.
3.     Serves as the on-site representative of the Company for all projects assigned:a)     Prepares and updates project schedules.b)    Maintains progress of active projects.c)     Assigns production crew to projects.

d)    Handles correspondence of schedules, RFI, and daily reports per project requirements.

e)     Attends required project meetings with other foremen.

4.     Provides input and makes recommendations on labor hours required for jobs, personnel needs, and logistical requirements to assist the Manager with pre-bid issues.
5.     Serves as the on-site crew leader with authority to release any crew member from a project when safety becomes an issue, when manpower needs drop, or when an unforeseen condition causes a work stoppage; may refer crew members to the Manager when difficult personnel issues arise.
6.     Ensures that various power and manual tools as well as powered platforms and forklifts are used in a safe manner and that crew members are sufficiently trained and  proficient with the tools and equipment they are required to use.
7.     Maintains a good product-knowledge base to ensure a thorough understanding of the installation processes for all items sold by the Company.
8.     Communicates field issues affecting cost increases, scope of work, quality control, staff competency and safety/security of personnel and Company property to Manager in a timely manner.
9.     Maintains a tidy work area to minimize potential for accidents.  Schedules training with Safety Administrator to keep required certifications for crew current.
10.  Schedules material and equipment delivery to the worksite as well as duties relating to transporting material and equipment to and from the jobsite.

 

Principal Requirements

  1. High school diploma and 5 yrs. minimum experience in either steel erection, carpentry or general construction.
  2. Proven leadership skills.
  3. Current certifications for OSHA 30-Hour, fork lift, scissor-lift, DIP, laser levels, CPR/First Aid, OR ability to obtain certifications within the 90-day introductory period.
  4. Basic Word, Excel, Lotus Notes.
  5. Good math skills sufficient for measuring and layout work.
  6. Excellent skills to read and understand job specifications and technical information; proficient in blueprint reading.
  7. Effective verbal and written communications skills
  8. Ability to work various shifts including weekends, holidays and overtime, as needed.
  9. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable driving record and must be at least 21 years of age.
