Abilities Unlimited is looking for Direct Support staff. We are a non-profit organization with a mission to support high-functioning adults that have intellectual disabilities in order to increase their everyday skills including but not limited to: independent living skills, acting appropriately while in the community, increasing socialization skills, helping them learn, helping them work towards employment, etc.
The Direct Support Worker’s main job is to be a role-model and a mentor to the individuals we provide services to. The job is not babysitting or companionship; it is more of a tutor/mentor role. This position would be the best fit for someone who is patient and enjoys teaching others.
The position is part-time, compensation starts at $10.75 an hour, no experience is necessary. The hours range from 8:00am-4:30pm and vary depending on the needs of the specific person. We are flexible with your availability which means this position is perfect for someone who is just re-entering the workforce, recently retired, student, or stay at home parent.
We are looking for staff primarily in the Honolulu, Kailua areas; our office is located in Kalihi where we also have a need for staffing
Shifts at the office: We work like a school setting some come to all classes some mix classes and community exploration. They work on a set of goals while at program like reading, math, money management, socialization, etc. our classes are really fun to be part of… art, tennis, dance, music, theater, etc. The bulk of our hours are between 8:30-2:30 and most shifts are 2-6 hours. We can work with your availability but have limited weekend/evening hours.

Weekdays: in our office from 8:30-2:30pm
