The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for overseeing the preparation of accounting workpapers and reconciliations to support the issuance of financial statements and management reports. The Senior Accountant should be self-driven, adaptable, exhibit critical thinking skills, passionate, and client service focused.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties


  • Oversees monthly general ledger closings and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger. Maintains the integrity of the accounting systems, financial reports, and accounting records
  • Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of accounts. Prepares journal entries, reports, schedules and analyses for reporting requirements set forth by management
  • Prepares consolidated financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and information from various entities
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and assisting with taxes and audit
  • Responsible for functions related to cash management
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining prudent financial and accounting policies, procedures, and practices, including strong internal controls to safeguard the assets of the organization. Provides day to day support including identifying solutions for fiscal problem resolution, articulating fiscal policies, procedures, practices, and results and championing sound, reasonable practices, and controls
  • Responds promptly and accurately to all inquiries related to the area of responsibility. Ensures the day to day operations of the department are running properly and provide ad hoc reports when requested. Performs other related duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field of study
  • 2-3 years of direct general ledger experience with demonstrated experience working with medium-sized accounting systems.
  • Strong ability to prepare financial schedules and reports in a clear, concise and logical manner and in accordance with organizational requirements
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers that includes spreadsheet, data management, and word processing applications
  • Strong analytical ability to analyze and comprehend financial statements, reports, and spreadsheets. Ability to analyze and conceptualize financial concepts, while able to work at a detailed level
  • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with various levels of management, staff and external regulatory agencies and consultants and able to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and to adapt to changes in a dynamic environment, including working with confidential information
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to work independently, to handle multiple assignments while meeting assigned deadlines and exhibits strong decision-making capabilities and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Experience in public accounting, tax and audit a plus
